TorvForsk – the Swedish Peat Research Foundation is a broad and general research foundation founded in 1983 by representatives of the peat industry. The purpose of TorvForsk is to initiate, plan, implement and evaluate research and development efforts of significance to the peat industry. Beginning this spring, R&D activities in the area of peat in Sweden have been reorganized and strengthened. A new research program has been developed and two organizations, the Swedish Peat Research Foundation (formerly known as SST) and the Swedish National Committee of the International Peat Society, have merged.

The endeavors of TorvForsk are:
to capture project proposals and ideas that involve developing peat and that require the collaboration of several different competencies.
to stimulate and support long-term sustainable cooperation and the building of peat industrial competencies of common interest to the sector as a whole or to groups of individual stakeholders.
to contribute to the transfer of knowledge and spread of technology through reports, seminars and the like.

The goal of the activities is to be practical application of results.
