Research and development are key foundation stones in the peat industry. As of spring 2005, R&D activities in the area of peat in Sweden have been reorganized and strengthened. A new research program has been developed and two organizations, the Swedish Peat Research Foundation (formerly known as SST) and the Swedish National Committee of the International Peat Society, have merged to build a more effective organization. is an open access internet journal published jointly by the international Mires Conservation Group (IMCG) and the International PeatSociety (IPS). Mires and Peat publishes high-quality peer-reviewed academic papers on all facets of research relationg to mires, peatlands and peat worldwide.
