Assessment report on Peatlands and Climate Change The International Peat Society (IPS) has taken the initiative to form a working group on Peatlands and Climate Change the first objective for this group will be to produce an assessment report on Peatlands and Climate Change. The main target audience of the book is targeted at decision makers all over the world but should also be a document for
researchers, students, journalists and opinion leaders in different countries.
The report will cover the subject of the interaction between peatlands and
climate change and to describe the effect of different management methods. It will also describe how emissions of greenhouse gases from peatlands are
handled within the current international climate change conventions. The working group consists of researchers from different countries in the world. Kristina Holmgren from IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute Ltd is chapter co-ordinator for the chapter concerning energy peat utilisation. The report will published as a book and launched at the 13th international Peat Congress in Tullamore, Ireand June 2008.
